Guava, a name appearing to derive from the Spanish Guayaba, is a product native to Mexico and the Brazilian Amazon area. Many species belonging to other genera may be called guavas too, but the most important distinguish is that between white and pink guavas. Guava was discovered as a very useful and readily marketable fruit. The somewhat low growing trees, grow in tropical and subtropical regions, but is able to survive somewhat cold temperatures and both humid and dry climates. This created an interesting product to be adopted throughout the world, like Africa and the Mediterranean coast of Europe. Ever since the explorers that made their journey across the oceans, the Guava has been spread by man. Nowadays Guava is loved as a fruit with a pleasant and aromatic sweet-sour taste. Besides the unique and typical flavor and fragrance, the fruit is another high profile nutrient, consisting an effective combination of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibers. It is said that Guava obtains a good looking skin, preventing you from damage by UV radiation.
